FEATURED: Religious Trauma on Kindred with Aubrey Baptista

Religious Trauma and Body Image Concerns are often intertwined.

Diet culture. Purity culture. Body as a temple. Bodily desires as sinful.

I address the common roots and issues that can arise from both religious trauma and from body image concerns throughout this site.

I recently got the chance to chat with Aubrey Baptista of Kindred Art Therapy about these topics.

Outline of a person raising their hands into the sunlight to demonstrate finding peace with spirituality and body.

Aubrey invited me to share more about religious trauma. We talked about what it is and how it can impact folks.

We also talked about some of the ways that religious trauma and body image concerns overlap.

It was a really great conversation that provides an introduction to these topics. There is definitely much more that could be said!

You can take a listen to our chat here.

If you’re located in North Carolina, and find yourself struggling with the effects of spiritual abuse, religious trauma, and/or body image concerns, feel free to contact me and we can schedule a free, 15-minute consultation to discuss what it might look like for us to work together.
